Tuesday's high school scoreboard, 5/3

A few years ago, this would've merited front page headlines in the sports section of the newspaper. In 2022, a battle of division leaders in the Suburban Council in softball is considered an afterthought.

Shenendehowa entered Tuesday's road game at Troy undefeated in league play, while the Flying Horses had won 9 in a row, having overcome earlier losses to Averill Park and Burnt Hills, and I'm sure those two teams were rooting for Shen to derail the runaway train.

Nope. Didn't happen.

Troy's Olivia DeCitise (who else?) scattered five hits and struck out 13 in going the distance again, as Troy ran its winning streak to 10 in a row, handing the Plainswomen their first league loss, 2-1. Katie Pryor drove in the game winner in the 5th inning, and the Troy defense backed up DeCitise to make the lead stand up.

Troy is right back at it this afternoon, weather permitting, of course, at Columbia, then return home to play Niskayuna on Friday. A non-league game vs. Tamarac has been added for Tuesday. Troy already had Senior Day prior to beating Guilderland on April 29.

Update, 11:04 am: Due to rain, today's softball game and tennis meet at Columbia have been postponed.

On the men's side, Troy rebounded from a loss to Guilderland to beat Shen, 6-4. Kyle Adams of The Record/Saratogian posted the results on his Twitter page. Whether or not it merits the front of El Cheapo Media's sports section is another story, since it takes them a week to update their online sports page. Troy has pushed back their baseball game at Columbia to tomorrow in anticipation of a possible rainout.
