 Former Tri-City Valleycat Joe Musgrove is undefeated so far this season, his 2nd with the San Diego Padres. Musgrove won his 3rd straight decision, running his record to 8-0, as the Padres, the leaders in the NL West, completed a sweep of the Chicago Cubs, 6-4. Musgrove went 7 innings, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits while walking one and striking out 9.

The current Valleycats snapped a 2 game losing streak, salvaging the final game of their series with New Jersey, 14-6, on Thursday at Bruno Stadium before over 2700 fans. Kumar Rocker, in his 3rd start, all at home, fanned 7 in 4 innings.


The 'Cats are back on the road tonight, which means the Albany Patroons should have more fans at the Washington Avenue Armory for game 2 of the TBL Eastern Conference final vs. the Huntsville Hurricanes.

Speaking of which, the Pats were down 2 after the 1st quarter, but took the lead for good in the 2nd quarter, and rolled to a 123-104 victory. Albany can close out Huntsville tonight.

Rotterdam native Liz Kuhlkin is back in the 518 this week, competing in the US Open women's bowling tournament in Glens Falls. She'll need a strong effort today and/or tomorrow to advance toward Tuesday's televised finals on the CBS Sports Network (Spectrum channel 315).

Toronto reliever Matt Gage (Broadalbin-Perth/Siena) finished Thursday's game between the Blue Jays and Baltimore, giving up a run on one hit over two innings, as the Orioles defeated Toronto, 10-2. Toronto welcomes the Yankees to Rogers Centre tonight, so it's likely we'll see Gage on cable TV (tonight's game is on Amazon Prime) this weekend.
