The price of losing

Last year, Troy High experimented with fielding a women's golf team for the first time. Unfortunately, there isn't going to be a 2nd season just yet.

Per Schedule Galaxy, Troy has cancelled its entire women's golf slate for 2022, which was to start this week. The only conclusion there can be is the lack of interest among the women, and the root cause is the fact that the Lady Horses failed to win a single meet last season. Yes, these ladies did their best to compete, but the talent simply isn't there or willing for 2022.

Will they try again in 2023. That might be up to not only Athletic Director Paul Reinisch, but the school board as well.

In other Troy news, the men's golf team will wait an extra day to play Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake. The meet, originally scheduled for September 8, has been pushed to September 9, the last of an 8 meet series over the first two weeks of the season. The men open at Guilderland on Thursday.

Also, the Troy/Tamarac/Averill Park women's swimming & diving team has had their meet at Shenendehowa, originally set for September 23, moved up two days to Wednesday, September 21. No reason given for the change, although the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah starts that weekend.

We should see results coming in starting at the end of the week.
