 UAlbany salvaged a split of the weekend Albany Cup games vs. Siena on Sunday, winning the women's game at UHY Arena (formerly the Alumni Recreation Center), 64-57, in front of just under 1200 fans.

Grace Heeps (Columbia/UMass) had 13 points in support of leading scorer Ellen Hahne (23 points). Lilly Phillips (Cambridge) had just 4 points, and Abby Ray (Saratoga) didn't score. For Siena, Ahniysha Jackson (Albany) had 5 points, while Valencia Fontanelle-Posson (Guilderland) had 4.


UAlbany's men's team returns to Hudson Valley Community College for their regular season home opener vs. Union tonight at 7.

We now know where our Section II football champions will be playing this weekend. In fact, four of the five games are being hosted by Section II schools.

Class AA:

CBA returns to Guilderland to play Pittsford on Friday at 7.

Class A:

Niskayuna vs. Canadaigua at Shenendehowa, Friday at 7.

Class B:

Ravena vs. Peru at Beekmantown, Saturday at 1.

Class C:

Warrensburg/Lake George/North Warren vs. Gouveneur at Mechanicville, Friday at 7.

Class D:

Cambridge-Salem vs. Alexander at Broadalbin-Perth, Friday at 7.

Section II captured one state title on Sunday, at Waterford claimed the Class C crown, beating Sauquoit Valley, 6-3. Congratulations to the Fordians.
