News & notes

 Per Aktivate (formerly Schedule Galaxy), Gloversville has moved their men's basketball game vs. Troy again, this time to January 7, likely due to a Foothills Council scheduling conflict due to postponements the last two Fridays. Tip time is 6 pm.
===========================================
Speaking of Troy, their spring sports schedule is slowly rolling out. The schedules for men's tennis, softball, baseball, & lacrosse will be out after the start of 2023. Per Aktivate, they're scheduling track meets on four consecutive days in May, weather permitting, of course.

Anyway, this is what we have at press time for softball, lacrosse, & baseball:

Softball:

April 5: @ Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake.
April 8: Whitesboro.
April 10: Chatham (the JV's will meet at Chatham on April 1).
May 8: @ Schuylerville.

The rest of the Suburban Council schedule should be out as early as next month.

Baseball:

April 5: @ Burnt Hills.
May 8: @ CBA.

Lacrosse:

April 6: @ Burnt Hills.
April 25: Albany.
May 11: @ CBA
=================================================
The Albany Empire have a relatively famous name on their roster for 2023, and perhaps beyond.

Vincent Testaverde, Jr., son of the former Miami Hurricanes & NFL (Jets, Dallas, Tampa Bay, Cleveland, etc.) QB, signed earlier this week, marking his return to the 518 after spending a season at UAlbany, and will challenge incumbent Sam Castronuovo for the starting job. This should be fun. Bank on this. Autograph seekers will be searching for the elder Testaverde, should he be in attendance at MVP Arena during the season.

Merry Christmas, everyone.
