Last year, Troy High finished 3rd in the Averill Park Tip-Off tournament. This year was worse.
The Flying Horses (0-2) didn't get blown out of the gym again, but they finished last after losing to Columbia, 44-36. Host Averill Park won the tournament, of course, disposing of South Glens Falls in the title game. The Junior Varsity tournament played out the same way, with the Warriors winning the tournament, and Troy finishing last. Troy opens league play Tuesday at Colonie before the home opener on Friday vs. Burnt Hills.
Update, 9:56 pm: We're finding out now that Sarah Fullmer is not the new head coach. Instead, the school stealthily brought in Steve Lombard as the new head coach.
