 We told you earlier in the summer that the NY Racing Association was considering moving the Belmont Stakes to Saratoga in 2025 due to renovations being planned for Belmont Park around that time.

Now comes word that the Belmont could be heading upstate even sooner. Like, next year.

The only question that remains is whether or not Saratoga would have a longer than normal meet the next two years. Stay tuned.

In what may be a first for high school sports in Section II, a small number of soccer matches and golf meets were postponed Wednesday due to heat index issues, with the temperature reaching 90 degrees by mid-afternoon.

LaSalle & Catholic Central postponed their golf match, which has been rescheduled for Thursday, September 21.

Troy High and Albany Academy postponed a men's junior varsity soccer match, rescheduled for Saturday at 1 pm.

Troy was supposed to send the women's soccer teams, varsity & JV, to Scotia, but those games were postponed, with no make-up date set.

Schalmont & Mohonasen likewise postponed JV soccer for men & women. No make-up date.

With rain also in today's forecast, coupled with 90 degree temperatures, check with your schools before heading out this afternoon.
