News & notes

It used to be that Spectrum News 1 would have viewers tune in on Mondays to find out the location of that week's Friday Night Matchup. Not this year.

Perhaps in response to viewers being unhappy with that arrangement, Spectrum posted the schedule on their website. If you're a Troy High supporter or alumnus like ye scribe, you'll have to wait three weeks to see the Flying Horses on TV.

Tonight: Saratoga @ Burnt Hills. The start of a new era at both schools.

Sept. 14: Averill Park @ Niskayuna. This game is a Thursday special due to the Jewish holiday Rosh Hashanah.

Sept. 22: Lansingburgh @ Schalmont.

Sept. 29: The Collar City Cup: LaSalle @ Troy.

October 6: Shenendehowa @ CBA.

October 13: Shaker @ Ballston Spa.

October 20: LaSalle @ Bethlehem.

October 27: Shenendehowa @ Guilderland.

November 3 & 10: Playoffs.

All games start just after 7 pm. Now, if only they could just let Marisa Jacques out of the studio every Friday, instead of just once last season.....!
