News & notes

 UAlbany's women's basketball team was one and done in the Women's NIT.

The Lady Danes fell to Colgate, 64-50, with Kayla Cooper leading Albany with 22 points. Meghan Huerter added 11. Colgate moves on to play Huerter's former team at Providence, led by Olivia Olson (Niskayuna), on Monday.
===========================================
Jillian Huerter, Meghan's sister, has entered the transfer portal after 1 season at Rutgers. That will lead to speculation she could reunite with her sister at UAlbany, or play for their father's alma mater, Siena, next season.

Stay tuned.

One more area name to watch for this weekend, this time in the Women's NCAA tournament.

Dorothy "Dolly" Cairns (Saratoga) quietly transferred from Rhode Island to Florida Gulf Coast for her senior season. FGCU will play Oklahoma tomorrow afternoon (check listings for which ESPN channel carries the game, or if it airs on WTEN).
==============================================
LaSalle was scheduled to open its men's lacrosse season tomorrow at Sutton Field vs. Monroe-Woodbury, with a 12 noon start. An incoming winter storm may change those plans, so check with LaSalle before you head out tomorrow morning.
===============================================
Kevin Huerter (Shen/Maryland) is out for a bit for the Sacramento Kings after a shoulder injury sustained on Monday vs. Memphis. Huerter dislocated his left shoulder, and also has a torn labrum. Team doctors for the Kings didn't indicate a timetable for return, with the playoffs a month away.
