This morning, Galal Cancer is the new varsity basketball head coach at his alma mater.

Cancer, now 31, starred for CBA until his graduation in 2011. After that, he played his college ball at Cornell and Kent State, where he played as a graduate transfer during the 2015-6 season. The Albany FIrebirds will have to wait two extra days for their next game. The upside is that the game now will be at home.

Due to the Minnesota Timberwolves advancing in the NBA playoffs, the Minnesota Myth, who were supposed to host Albany on Saturday, have been bumped, and the game will now be played at suddenly busy MVP Arena on May 13. Kickoff will be a half-hour earlier than normal, around 6:30 pm. The 'Birds now won't be on the road until Week 6, as their homestand is now 5 games.
