 The 518 has always had prospects developing in boxing, from Mike Tyson to Abraham Nova.

The latest prospect, it seems, is Albany High sophomore Nya Almodovar, who was profiled today in the Albany Times-Union. The 16 year old won the 114 pound novice title at the USA Women's Boxing Championships in Louisiana last month. Next up for Almodovar is the Silver Gloves states in Rochester, coming up in December.

Winning in that tournament would be a nice, self-given Christmas present, wouldn't it?

Troy High's women's soccer team saw their modest two game winning streak end on Tuesday in a 4-0 home loss to undefeated Ravena. Jarret Farrell's Lady Horses are on the road tonight at LaSalle. Match time is 7 pm, same as the men's match at Picken Field.
