News & notes

Former MLB pitcher Roger Clemens was in town Thursday for a benefit for the Center For Disability Services in Albany. Son Kody is a reserve with the Philadelphia Phillies, who clinched the NL East on Monday. No one's asked the elder Clemens, who pitched for Boston, Toronto, the Yankees, and Houston, if he would ever make the Hall of Fame, given the scandal that ended his career. At this point, I don't think he wants to take any attention away from Kody, who's in the playoffs for the first time.
