To borrow from Dennis Miller back in the day, I hate to go off on a rant here, but I feel as though I have to.

As I alluded to on Monday when the soccer sectional pairings came out, Troy High's women's team got shafted, not so much due to strength of schedule, as would be suggested, but, rather, politics. We've seen it every year in basketball. In classifications where the Suburban, Foothills, & Colonial Councils intermingle, if you will, you'd think the suits in Section II would get a clue and seed based on overall records, with tiebreakers decided by either head-to-head (within the league) or better league records.

Nope. This outdated system needs to be replaced yesterday. While I have zero issue with Troy's women being eliminated from the tournament (more below), the issue I have is that the Lady Horses could've been at home as they had a better record than Averill Park. Instead, they go on the road. Section II needs to be & do better.

It took almost a week, but we can report that Bethlehem captured the Class AA women's tennis title last Friday, beating Saratoga. No reason was ever given for the delay in reporting the result.
