News & notes

 We all know the 518 is largely Yankee country.

Kansas City Royals manager Matt Quatraro grew up a Yankee fan, and, today, leads the Royals into Yankee Stadium in game 1 of the American League Division Series. The Bethlehem graduate is making his postseason debut in a series that revives a classic playoff rivalry from the 70's. The Yankees went through the Royals in 3 consecutive ALCS (1976-8), before Kansas City gained a measure of revenge in 1980.

The game airs on TBS tonight at 6:30 pm.

The Collar City Cup remains with LaSalle.

The Cadets snapped a 3 game losing streak in getting past Troy, 14-12, Friday, sending the Flying Horses (2-3) to their 3rd straight loss. LaSalle (2-3) will have Senior Night next Friday vs. Ballston Spa, while Troy returns home to open a season ending 3 game homestand against South Glens Falls. The Bulldogs are 1-4 after losing to Mohonasen.
=========================================
Former Tri-City Valleycat Joe Musgrove will not pitch for the San Diego Padres in the National League Division Series vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Musgrove is done for the season with elbow problems that will require Tommy John surgery, knocking him out for the 2025 season, or, at least, a large majority of it, as well.

Ex-Valleycat Enrique Hernandez will play for the Dodgers.
