News & notes

After being a vital component of the Philadelphia Phillies' bullpen last season, Shaker graduate Jeff Hoffman joins former teammate Tommy Kahnle (Yankees) in the American League, but with the Toronto Blue Jays, who signed Hoffman to a 3 year deal on Friday.

Hoffman had been a dominant reliever until the postseason, when he was torched twice by the Mets in the NLDS. Hoffman & Kahnle figure to see a lot of each other when spring training begins next month, as both the Yankees & Jays train in Florida.
