Easter break ends when classes resume on Tuesday. When play resumes, the weather will feel more like, ah, summer than spring. Go figure.
Men's tennis and women's flag football were idle this week. Their schedules will come at the end of this review.
Softball:
Current record: 3-2 (3-0 Colonial Council).
Only Mother Nature can slow down the Lady Horses, it seems. After beating Ravena & Holy Trinity at the start of the week, Sean Geisel's club got an unexpected day off when today's game at Ballston Spa was rained out. They've already rescheduled the game for Friday afternoon.
Next: It's going to be a busy week, as the Lady Horses will play their first ever game vs. LaSalle on Monday on the road. Then, they'll welcome Cohoes on Wednesday, travel to B-Spa on Friday, and host Glens Falls next Saturday.
Men's lacrosse:
Current record: 1-4 (1-2 Colonial Council).
After losing a tight one to Johnstown at home on Wednesday, the laxmen were blown off the field at Voorheesville on Friday.
Next: The Horses stay on the road at Mohonasen-Schenectady-Schalmont Wednesday. The game is at Schenectady High. Then, Hoosick Falls-Tamarac comes in next Saturday.
Baseball:
Current record: 3-1 (2-0 Colonial Council).
Trevor McCarthy's club took down Burnt Hills and Ravena this week, building momentum for a pending matchup with LaSalle.
Next: The Horses travel to Geer Field to play the Cadets on Monday. The Cadets have won the last two meetings. After that, there's little rest, as Queensbury comes in for a non-league game on Tuesday, followed by Cohoes on Wednesday before finishing the week at Lansingburgh. The weather should be favorable all week.
Tennis:
Current record: 0-1.
We forgot about this last week, but Troy dropped its opener to Albany Academy on April 10.
Next: Cobleskill-Richmondville comes in Tuesday in a match that was originally set to be played a couple of weeks ago. The road match at Ichabod Crane was moved from Monday to Thursday.
Flag Football:
Current record: 3-1.
Next: After nearly 2 weeks off, Frank Rogers' club hosts Schenectady on Wednesday, then visits undefeated Columbia on Friday.
Happy Easter.
