News & notes

 Before entering the NFL with the Giants in the late 90's, David Patten began his professional football career in the 518 with the Albany Firebirds of the Arena Football League.

Today, all of football is mourning Patten, 47, who passed away Friday after a motorcycle accident. In addition to the Giants, Patten won 3 Super Bowls with New England, and also played for Cleveland, Washington, & New Orleans in a 12 year NFL career.

The Tri-City Valleycats remain tied with Equipe Quebec after dispatching the NY Boulders, 5-4, in the first of a 4 game holiday series Friday night. No doubleheaders, though. The teams will close the series on Labor Day, the only Monday game on the schedule this season.


Should Tri-City & the Quebecois remain tied for first at the end of business on September 12, it will come down to tiebreakers to determine the division champion.
