Saturday's local sports scoreboard, 9/4

Saturday was opening day for area college football teams, with some high school action mixed in.

With RPI's East Campus Village Stadium closed to the public because of the school's concerns over COVID-19, their YouTube channel is, thankfully, back up and running. The Engineers opened the season by rallying to beat Montclair State, 23-20. Check the video:

RPI will be home again next Saturday to take on Stevenson College.

The Tri-City Valleycats saw their latest winning streak snapped by the last place New York Boulders, 13-7, on Saturday. The Boulders have not been eliminated yet, as they are 8 games back with 8 to play, including today's game. As we noted yesterday, they will play a twilight game on Labor Day.

UAlbany had the highest profile opener of the area teams, traveling to the Fargodome to play North Dakota State. The Great Danes got a touchdown in the 2nd quarter, but blew the 2 point conversion, and fell, 28-6. The home opener will be next Saturday night at Casey Stadium.
