News & notes

The skating Cadets of LaSalle Institute returned to Conway Arena at Hudson Valley Community College for their first game in 22 months Wednesday night. However, an 0-3 start on the road might've been part of the reason students & fans alike opted to stay home, as the bleachers weren't as filled as they used to be.

After a scoreless first period, Bethlehem, seeking to regain the Delvecchio Cup after losing it Adirondack last season, erupted for a pair of goals against Caleb Ellis, and added an insurance tally in the third period, to defeat LaSalle, 3-1. Shaun Branon had the lone goal for the Cadets (0-4, 0-1 CDHSHL), while Ellis finished with 29 saves.

The game was available on LaSalle's YouTube channel. Unfortunately, the arena's public address system is not synched to the live stream, so all you got was what amounted to a silent movie. Also, LaSalle has become the latest Section II school to privatize their YouTube videos. In other words, they don't want anyone copying the videos for blogs like this. Don't know whose idea that was in administration, but to ye scribe, it's a bonehead play. They may be doing this to induce more attendance live at Conway Arena, but this decision will come back to bite them later in the season when most fans are shut-in due to winter weather.

Update, 11:55 am: WTEN's Liana Bonavita has the highlights:
