News & notes

 The season premiere of Friday Night Matchup never got started last night.

Viewers tuning in to Spectrum News 1 at 7 pm got a pre-recorded newscast in place of the Saratoga-Burnt Hills game. At first, they were hoping to start at 7:45 pm, then 8 pm, but somewhere between 8 & 8:30, the decision was made by the schools to postpone the game until this afternoon at 1:30 pm. The 518 was hammered by a late season thunderstorm for the 2nd straight night, wiping out a fair chunk of games or suspending others. The only remaining question is whether or not Spectrum will have their cameras at Burnt Hills this afternoon.

Troy High grad Mike Kennedy was named Pitcher of The Month in the Gulf Coast League, playing for Pittsburgh's farm team. Something tells me we'll see Kennedy in the bigs in another 2 or 3 years, if not sooner, if he continues to progress as he has.
=======================================
Mother Nature, more than the Queensbury Spartans, spoiled the debut of former Troy High star Jordan Canzeri as the Flying Horses' coach Friday. Queensbury led, 21-0, with under 2 minutes to go before the game was suspended by lightning. They will resume play tonight at 6 pm, as Queensbury plays its first game on its new turf field with lights.
